Consumer law basically derives its basis from the Law No. 4077 on Consumer Protection. In the same law, it also explained its purpose. According to this;

ARTICLE 1- The purpose of this Law is to take measures to protect the health, safety and economic interests of the consumer, enlighten, educate, compensate for their damages, protect them from environmental dangers in accordance with the public interest and to encourage consumers to protect themselves and to encourage voluntary organizations in the formulation of policies in this regard to regulate matters.

As can be understood from here; The free market economy, developments in economic and social fields have revealed the need to raise awareness, protect and organize consumers who are weaker against strong sellers.
